Following the announcement made by YAB Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin on 16 March 2020, UCYP’s management has decided to halt operations from March 18 to March 31, 2020. This has been confirmed by UCYP Vice-Chancellor Professor Emeritus Dato ‘Dr. Ahmad Haji Zainuddin.

The closure of premise for two weeks is the best step in curbing the spread of the COVID – 19 outbreak that has hit the world and has also affected Malaysia.

To date, the number of Covid-19 positive cases in Malaysia has reached 673 cases including 28 in Pahang. Although the competencies of the Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH) are undeniable and deserve recognition, cooperation from all parties is extremely important and preventive measures must be taken seriously.

This action is in line with the Fifth Article of the Movement Restriction Order which will be effective from March 18 to March 31, 2020 where all Higher Education Institutions across the country need to close immediately. This step is seen as wise and accurate in preventing the spread of the outbreak.

As a result, UCYP’s management through the Office of the Vice Chancellor (Academic & International) has taken the initiative to implement teaching and learning via online for more than 2000 students at all affected campuses and even reschedule the final exams to 1st June until 12th June 2020.

Not only academically, the UCYP administrative staff was also directed to work from home starting on the announced date.

The UCYP & KYP Management hopes that through these actions the Covid-19 outbreak can be well prevented.
